The Methodist church in South Anston was initially founded when villagers began meeting at each other’s homes around 1739. After that they met in a variety of different buildings including an upper room in the Leeds Arms public house. In 1871 the original chapel was built, followed in 1935 by our current building. Throughout our history we have sought to be a central part of the community, and today we remain a thriving meeting place for all ages, not just on a Sunday, but on every day of the week.
We believe that church is not just about coming together on a Sunday, but that a varied programme of activities throughout the week is essential to a healthy church.
At the centre of all we do is a belief that a healthy, living relationship with God is essential to living a full and varied life. Jesus taught that to love God and to love those who live around us are the two most important things we can do. That’s what we try to do every day of our lives.
